{"id":2658,"date":"2012-04-16T15:07:29","date_gmt":"2012-04-16T20:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/?p=2658"},"modified":"2012-04-16T15:07:29","modified_gmt":"2012-04-16T20:07:29","slug":"updates-from-the-hindustani-covenant-church","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/2012\/04\/updates-from-the-hindustani-covenant-church\/","title":{"rendered":"Updates from the Hindustani Covenant Church"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2660\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Orissa-Children-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Orissa-Children-300x225.png 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Orissa-Children-1024x768.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The Hindustani Covenant Church, HCC, has been a partner that continues to astound us with their commitment to transforming the lives of individuals <em>and<\/em> communities\u00a0all across India.\u00a0 Some of their many efforts to strive for justice and act compassionately can be seen in <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/2011\/12\/updates-from-hindustani-covenant-church\/\" target=\"_blank\">this previous blog post<\/a>.\u00a0 By partnering with HCC, we have been blessed to receive further update on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/relief\/projects\/cd\/\" target=\"_blank\">three of their projects<\/a> located in Chopda, Dang, and Orissa.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/relief\/projects\/cd\/india-covenant-social-services-chopda\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chopda<\/a>, women are taking the challenge to receive training and give back with exciting results.\u00a0 Some of the trained students are now creating their own sewing classes for new students to learn.\u00a0 One example of this can be seen through Mrs. Roma Bai.\u00a0 After completing her own classes, she has now taken in eight girls to guide them through the same training she had received.\u00a0 In addition, women are being taught to make traditional bamboo craft baskets.\u00a0 They are able to not only produce, but to market their products as well.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2659\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Gujarat-Dairy-Farm-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Gujarat-Dairy-Farm-300x225.png 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Gujarat-Dairy-Farm-1024x768.png 1024w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2012\/04\/Gujarat-Dairy-Farm.png 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/relief\/projects\/cd\/india-covenant-social-services-dang\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dang<\/a>, a dairy farm has been implemented as an excellent source of income.\u00a0 This sustainable project has and will continue to create employment for many women.\u00a0 The goal of HCC and CSS (Covenant Social Service) is to have this farm handed over entirely to the community.<\/p>\n<p>Finally in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/relief\/projects\/cd\/india-covenant-social-services-orissa\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orissa<\/a>, we continue to see the amazing work the sewing classes are doing for students there.\u00a0 Many girls come from villages in the area, with the support of their parents, to learn the craft of stiching clothing to sell in the community.\u00a0 The staff in Orissa have been so blessed to hear encouraging feedback from all of those directly and indirectly involved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr?moderation_action=report_form&#038;object_type=post&#038;object_id=2658&#038;width=250&#038;height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Hindustani Covenant Church, HCC, has been a partner that continues to astound us with their commitment to transforming the lives of individuals and communities\u00a0all across India.\u00a0 Some of their many efforts to strive for justice and act compassionately can be seen in this previous blog post.\u00a0 By partnering with HCC, we have been blessed [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":124,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[279],"tags":[286],"class_list":["post-2658","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-community-development","tag-india"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
