{"id":2561,"date":"2012-03-12T15:34:04","date_gmt":"2012-03-12T20:34:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/?p=2561"},"modified":"2012-03-12T15:34:04","modified_gmt":"2012-03-12T20:34:04","slug":"ongoing-healing-for-women-in-the-congo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/2012\/03\/ongoing-healing-for-women-in-the-congo\/","title":{"rendered":"Ongoing healing for women in the Congo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lord continues to use our partner in the Democratic Republic of Congo, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healafrica.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">HEAL Africa<\/a>, to act justly and show mercy.\u00a0 HEAL Africa, as discussed in <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/2011\/11\/congo-fistula-care\" target=\"_blank\">this previous post<\/a>,<em> <\/em>works to prevent and alleviate the struggle of individuals with vesicovaginal fistula, or VVF.\u00a0 Our partner\u2019s work to heal, reconcile, and renew has continued over the last several months in the lives of many people.\u00a0 A total of twelve new women from three different regions of the DRC have been given the life-altering surgery to have their fistulas repaired.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>One of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healafrica.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">HEAL Africa<\/a>\u2019s goals is to be a part of repairing much more than the physical brokenness of the Congolese.\u00a0 In addition to surgery, the desire is to see transformation happen on an emotional, mental and spiritual level in the lives of the women, as well as in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>A number of the patients that have received surgeries are divorced\u2014for all of them the divorce was the result of their condition.\u00a0 The rejection from their husband results in an economic barrier that now needs to be overcome.\u00a0 HEAL Africa has implemented a project which includes economic regeneration programs to teach and encourage women with new skills to assist them through their journey along rough and uneven paths.<\/p>\n<p>Praise be to God for the healing that He is orchestrating.\u00a0 All twelve patients have left the hospital; they, along with their families, are so grateful for the way they have been blessed.\u00a0 Our partner tells us, \u201cEven the youngest, who was raped in this post-conflict country, has again found her smile.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr?moderation_action=report_form&#038;object_type=post&#038;object_id=2561&#038;width=250&#038;height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lord continues to use our partner in the Democratic Republic of Congo, HEAL Africa, to act justly and show mercy.\u00a0 HEAL Africa, as discussed in this previous post, works to prevent and alleviate the struggle of individuals with vesicovaginal fistula, or VVF.\u00a0 Our partner\u2019s work to heal, reconcile, and renew has continued over the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":124,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[279],"tags":[391,327],"class_list":["post-2561","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-community-development","tag-congo","tag-women"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
