Recently, I was fortunate enough to meet with churches in both Washington and Oregon. I found that\u00a0Covenanters were already at work dreaming and planning how their churches could get involved with Covenant Kids Congo and host a\u00a0Hope Sunday<\/a>\u00a0event. Although there is much support for Covenant Kids Congo, there are inevitable questions which require answers. This makes it all the more necessary for our team to be visible and readily available for churches throughout the Covenant.<\/p>\n

With that being said, some of the highlights of my trip were meeting with Pastor Kent Egging \u00a0and the staff at Bethany Covenant Church<\/a> in Mount Vernon (WA) and hearing Kent’s stories from trips to Congo and their vision for mobilizing the church to take action in the fall; hearing about McMinnville Covenant Church’s<\/a> (OR) upcoming Vacation Bible School plans to incorporate Covenant Kids stories throughout the week to inspire the church’s children to take action. Another highlight was Seattle-area churches coming together at the conference office to talk through and dream up ways each of their own communities could get involved.\u00a0At the Seattle meeting I had a chance to meet Megan Lyons, a World Vision child ambassador, who is a member of Cedarcreek Covenant Church<\/a> in Maple Valley, Washington. Megan is one of World Vision’s leading\u00a0volunteers\u00a0in the Seattle area and, with her family, has long been committed to child sponsorship. Check out a few words from Megan below:<\/p>\n
