{"id":2270,"date":"2013-06-25T13:27:23","date_gmt":"2013-06-25T13:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/covenantkidscongo\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2013-06-25T13:27:23","modified_gmt":"2013-06-25T13:27:23","slug":"work-underway-on-the-ledia-water-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/covenantkidscongo\/work-underway-on-the-ledia-water-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Work Underway on the Ledia Water Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ledia Water Project is a huge feat which will provide clean water for the entire city of Gemena as well as training in proper sanitation and hygiene.\u00a0Recently, our team was able to spend time visiting future water sites in the area as well as hear from the World Vision team on how they are engaging the community and implementing the work.<\/p>\n<p>This project will provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 19px\">Water Testing \u2013 Each viable water source will be tested to be certain the water is clean and that the source will continue to provide water, even during the dry season.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 19px\">Capping of Springs \u2013 A \u2018spring box\u2019 will be built to capture and contain water, to avoid contamination from agricultural runoff, rain water, and animal or human waste. This is a cost-effective way to provide drinking water to individual homes as well as the entire community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 19px\">Education \u2013 Teaching effective sanitation and hygiene is important for the community of Gemena to manage and care for the WASH systems being put into place.
