Child sponsorship packets at Chugach Covenant.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hope Sunday was an opportunity for\u00a0Chugach Covenant Church<\/a>, a new church plant in Anchorage, Alaska to increase awareness about the dire need in the Congo, and also the unique partnership between the Evangelical Covenant Church and World Vision to bring hope and transformation to this troubled region. Many of the people attending our church, are not from a Covenant background, so this was also a chance to learn about the ECC\u2019s history of serving globally.<\/p>\n

The first Sunday in December was picked for our event to coincide with the beginning of Advent and its theme of Hope. The service featured Advent readings from World Vision that reminded us not to close our eyes to the vulnerable around the globe. Our lead pastor, Dan Krause, spoke on the practical ways to demonstrate and declare the great story of Jesus as he weaved into this message the tangible ways in which we can do this as a community through sponsorship of children in Congo.<\/p>\n

Following the service, those in attendance were invited to a table set up with information about Covenant Kids Congo, and we are pleased to announce that more than half of our kids were sponsored! We hope that in the following weeks the remainder of the children will be spoken for. In many ways Alaska is still a mission field, and so it was a blessing to be able to reach out to another mission field across the globe to share Christ\u2019s love and compassion with our sisters and brothers in the Congo!<\/p>\n
