{"id":1793,"date":"2016-08-21T19:35:05","date_gmt":"2016-08-22T00:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/clauson\/?p=1793"},"modified":"2016-10-11T20:29:15","modified_gmt":"2016-10-12T01:29:15","slug":"the-lord-comforts-his-people-using-the-babes-among-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/clauson\/2016\/08\/21\/the-lord-comforts-his-people-using-the-babes-among-us\/","title":{"rendered":"The Lord comforts his people and the babes sing his praise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Throughout\u00a0our year in the US, a young woman named Marcela from the\u00a0church we attend in Oaxaca was battling with cancer. \u00a0During our first week back in Oaxaca, she went to be with the Lord. \u00a0She had come to Christ and started attending church after her diagnosis almost two years ago. \u00a0Today Tani, Marcela&#8217;s younger sister,\u00a0led the church service\u00a0and shared\u00a0her heart with us in a beautiful way. \u00a0Before her death, Marcela\u00a0had left her valuable items with Tani\u00a0to distribute as gifts to people who were close to her. \u00a0As Tani\u00a0went through her sister&#8217;s\u00a0few valuables, she was touched and surprised by Marcela&#8217;s simplicity. \u00a0She was also moved deeply by the stories and things people shared with her as she gave each person the designated gift. \u00a0She saw this\u00a0request not as a burden but rather a beautiful gift from God as she grew in understanding and respect for her sister.<\/p>\n<p>Then, Alicia, Marcela&#8217;s mother, shared during the thanksgiving time that even in the midst of her great sorrow, she is thankful\u00a0to the Lord for the many ways her family and church members have shown her love. \u00a0She was sitting\u00a0in the row behind us and as she was sharing, all eyes were on her and Maya, who I was holding in my arms. \u00a0As we listened to Alicia grieve and give thanks,\u00a0we witnessed this beautiful babe craning her neck in order to look over my shoulders into this mourning mother&#8217;s eyes. \u00a0And then, Maya\u00a0reached out her little hand for Alicia\u00a0to take. \u00a0As she held Maya&#8217;s hand, Alicia continued to give thanks to God for his comfort and love in the midst of her suffering. \u00a0The Lord indeed comforts his people and even uses the smallest among us to sing His praise&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains!
