CHICAGO, IL (May 12, 2011) – The memorial service for retired Evangelical Covenant Church missionary Jerry Reed will be webcast live from Anderson Chapel on the campus of North Park University. The service will be conducted at 2 p.m. central daylight time on Saturday, May 21.

Reed, 73, died April 10. A previous memorial service for Reed was held April 23 at Grace Covenant Church in Spring Valley, California.

Reed and his wife, Nancy, were called as career missionaries during the 1965 Covenant Annual Meeting. The couple served for 10 years in Ecuador and another 12 years in Mexico.

In 1987, Reed came to North Park Theological Seminary to serve as the Milton B. Engebretson Chair of Church Growth and Evangelism. He taught there for 17 years. The discipleship materials he developed have been translated into at least 22 languages.

Following retirement, the Reeds did short-term missionary work in La Coruña, Spain.
