FARMINGTON HILLS, MI (February 17, 2010) – Covenant Community Care, a low-cost medical center in Southeast Detroit, will kick off its Covenant Cares for 10,000 Campaign at 7 p.m. Saturday with a benefit concert at Faith Covenant Church.

Jennifer Shaw

Covenanter and popular Christian recording artist Jennifer Shaw will perform. Her song “Your Great Name” reached number three on Music Weekly’s Top 10 Worship Chart last year. Shaw serves as worship director at Faith Covenant.

All of the proceeds will be used to purchase medication for the uninsured. Tickets are $10 each or 10 for $50. They can be purchased online.

Detroit area Covenant churches and the Evangelical Covenant Church partnered in 2002 to open the clinic. In 2009, Covenant Community Care provided medical, dental, and counseling services to more than 4,000 people who live below the federal poverty level.

“Our goal for 2010 is to expand Covenant Community Care and prepare ourselves to be able to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of 10,000 people,” says Director Paul Propson.

The clinic has been busy since it first opened as an outreach to the community. “The people we serve come from all walks of life,” Propson says. “Some are recent immigrants, some are homeless, some are elderly, and too many are infants. But they all share one basic need – the need for hope.”

The nonprofit also receives donations through its website.
